Metafields

Metafields are extra fields on products, such as a care note or a roast level. Tandem reads them so each product page can show its own details without a separate template.

Create a metafield

1. Go to Settings > Custom data > Products and click Add definition.
2. Give it a name. Shopify suggests a key such as custom.care; note it down.
3. Choose the type from the table below, then save.
4. Fill in the value on each product, at the bottom of the product page in your admin.
5. In the theme editor, enter the key in the setting listed below.

Connect a dynamic source

Text settings such as a collapsible row’s content, a size chart’s notes or a countdown’s end date can also be connected to a metafield directly. Click the Connect dynamic source icon next to the setting and choose the metafield.
