Getting started
Theme editor basics
Sections, blocks, templates and color schemes in the Shopify theme editor.
You change almost everything in Tandem from the theme editor, without touching code. Open it from Online Store > Themes > Customize.
Sections and blocks
Section titled “Sections and blocks”A section is a full-width part of a page, such as a hero, a product grid or an FAQ. A block is a piece inside a section, such as one slide, one question or one card.
- Click Add section to add a section to the page.
- Drag the handle next to a section or block to reorder it.
- Click the eye icon to hide a section without deleting it.
- Right-click a section, or use its … menu, to duplicate or remove it.
Templates
Section titled “Templates”Each type of page uses a template: the home page, product pages, collection pages, pages, blog posts and so on. Use the picker at the top of the editor to switch templates. You can create extra templates, such as a second product template, and assign them to individual products or pages.
Header and footer groups
Section titled “Header and footer groups”The header and footer are section groups. Sections you add there, such as an announcement bar or a sale countdown bar, show on every page.
Color schemes
Section titled “Color schemes”Every section has a Color scheme setting. You define the schemes once in Theme settings > Colors, then pick one per section. Changing a scheme updates every section that uses it.
Show to
Section titled “Show to”Most sections have a Show to setting: Everyone, Everyone except wholesale customers, or Wholesale customers only. See Show content to one audience.
